Drawing Fashion from Design Museum on Vimeo.
From Chanel to McQueen, Drawing Fashion showcases a unique collection of fashion illustrations from the 20th and 21st centuries at London's Design Museum.
Drawing Fashion is a fascinating new exhibition at London's Design Museum that provides a window into the glamorous world of high fashion and couture.
See drawings from the collections of top fashion houses such as:
- Chanel
- Dior
- Comme des Garcons
- Poiret
- Lacroix
- McQueen
- Viktor & Rolf
You can also see films of the artists at work, as well as rare magazine covers and examples of the couture clothes shown in the illustrations.
The collection was compiled over 30 years by fashion-drawings expert Joelle Chariau and is said to be one of the most exceptional collections of its kind in the world.
Drawing Fashion charts the changing style of fashion drawings over the years, through Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Pop Art.
Discover the origins of fashion drawings as advertising images and see how they continue to be used by leading designers today.
The exhibition also celebrates key artists of the form, from Georges Lepape to current artists such as Aurore de la Morinerie, Mats Gustafson and Francois Berthoud.
