The pictogram is the characterised letter which has been created and developed to be recognized easily by anyone and the word "pictogram" comes from the word "picture(picto)" and "telegram(gram)" which has the meaning of delivering messages.
And its biggest advantage is the information from the simple and clearness. Also for any designers, pictogram would have been a project which has been attempted to express their implications of attractivenesses.

Have you ever imagined about pictogram being able to communicate with you personally or your favorite style comes out to be a pictogram?

1. Please introduce yourself
I'm still a student who likes to go out and spend most of the time with my friends, and trying to live my life as enjoyable as possilbe. I'm a twenty-five years old guy who is interested in every moment I have and always desires to have conversations with open-hearted people.

2. When did you started to have interstes in Pictograms?
There was a web-site analysis lesson, under the topic of pictogram. Since then, I was fascinated by pictogram, which has implications of meanings, humanisms,concentrated ways of thinking according to the situation captured my whole attention.

3. What is your view of pictogram?
It is common symbol information made from images and languages for quicker understanding. And I personally think that it is a part of our everyday life.

4. What do you think the attractiveness of the Pictogram?
Simple and clearness that everyone can understand Also it is more than just simplicity but an expression about experiences. The good pictogram is easy to approach and has familiarity.

5. What is the difference between pictograms in Korea and the other countries?
I think design and the power of expression is the difference. But we are far behind to the Germany and Japan, the origin of the pictogram. I'd like to study more about originality of the German pictogram and focus on expressing human personalities.

6. What was the most memorable pictogram?
I have seen North Korea's pictograms. It didn't express any of the pictogram's concept, but I could strongly feel that it had a North Korea's life-style, patterns and phenomenons.

7. What is the sovoro.net's pictoram characteristics?
I think sovoro's pictogram has a story. I reflect my personal life styles on the pictograms using some emotions, which can be expressed as an image. And probably 'pictogramized illusts' would be a better word to explain my works. It has an interactive elements to it, to respond and I base everything on sovoro by using pictograms, users and some feedbacks. Simply, it is a 'emotional descriptions of the visual wihch has the mode of pictograms'.

8. What would you like to say to those people who wants to do a pictogram?
Always think about the basics. Human is the basic and based on humanism, all the signs and action interacts. I would like you to not forget about the origins all the time.

9. What is the background and the meaing of the project called "Nimonic"
Nimonic is the electronical language which has the meaning of "helping for better memorising". 001110010000100001101000000000000 (don't quote me on that!). This is very long and completed. That is why people use the Nimonic "add". People convert "add" to machine language by using an assembler.
Nimonic is the project which 4 people has been gathered up to share ad express the each ideas and images. It is concentrated on the symbols which has been chosen clearly and as a project, the Nimonic has been created. The concept of the nimonic project is the finding a meaning and the reason from a simplicity of a visual graphics by using a combination of illust, typo and actual pictures.

10. What would you like to say to those people through the Nimonic?
I would like to tell them that, if you look at it little bit differently, anyone can enjoy and like to watch it!

11. What is your plan from now on?
We are trying to work on Net-art format visual project through the Nimonics and also planning on developing some t-shirts and stationary goods using the characters from Nimonic, visual graphics and pictograms. The product designs are more for a people's interest on Nimonic purposes. Overall, we are working on the project to express the Nimonic's mind for an optimistic point of views, fun and the humanism.

12. What was the people's reaction after launching the sovoro.net?
I was very happy the fact that many people like my site and have lots of interests in it. Many of them said it is full of fresh ideas!

13. Why do you think a lot of people are showing interests towards sovoro?
That is probably people sympathize the concept and ideas of sovoro and they feel comfort and sameness from my life style (my dairy which has been expressed as pictograms).

14. What is a special feature of sovoro apart from any other web sites?
The formations and color sense which has been created by only using the black, white, yellow and green, also pictograms that contains my own stories.

15. What do you want to show on sovoro?
I wanted to get out of the fixed ideas and I tried to expand the pictogram, without any limitations. To make sovoro's pictogram, I concentrate on fun elements and some huminisms. It includes an interactive graphical languages. Pictograms with popularized elements, humanisms and peculiarity of the characters will be included to express the sovoro and these are the things that I will be taking into consideration about creating my works.

It is hard to say everything about sovoro in couple of sentence, but if we were to say about simple and clearness that he likes, we say as above.

The conception and attempt he has, are very attractive, fun and friendly at the same time. And he also tries to maintain the effort he showed in a first place, until the end. Therefore, anyone can enjoy his pictograms. The good design idea maybe comes from a good life style and the people surrounding, as he answered in an interview.

Mr ham knows clearly what he needs to do to create what he wants and we look forwaed to see more of his fascinating imagination comes true as a reality.

일반인들이 쉽게 알아볼 수 있도록 상징적으로 표현한 일종의 그림 문자.

여기. 한국의 sovoro.net이 우리의 상상을 현실로 표현하기 위해 움직이고 있다.

1. 자신에 대한 소개를 부탁한다
아직은 많이 웃고 친구들과 함께 하고 싶은 학생이다. 현실에 만족하며 즐겁게 살려고 노력한다. 생활속에 묻어나는 일련의 일들에 관심이 많으며, 주변의 소중한 사람들 속 솔찍한 만남과 이야기들을 언제나 갈망하는 스물다섯 함영훈!!

2. 픽토그램에 관심을 갖게된 계기는 무엇인가?
학교 수업시간중 사이트 분석 시간이 있었다. 그때 주제가 픽토 그램이었고 그후 계속 찾아가면서 픽토그램의 매력에 빠지게 되었다. 픽토그램이 가지고 있는 함축적 의미와 휴머니즘. 최적의 상황에 대한 집중적 사고방식의 표현법이 인상적이었다.

3.자신이 생각하는 픽토그램이란 무엇이라고 생각하는가?
빠른 인식을 위한 인포메이션으로 언어와 이미지가 만들어낸 공통의 기호이다. 픽토그램 또한 우리가 사는 생활의 한 부분이라고 생각한다.

4. 픽토그램의 매력은 무엇이라 생각하는가?
모두가 이해할수 있는 단순함! 함축적 언어가 갖고있는 명료함이 매력이다. 또한 단순함을 넘어선 경험의 산실이며 표현법이다. 접근하기 쉬우며 친근함을 느낄수 있는 픽토그램이 좋다.

5. 우리나라의 픽토그램과 외국의 픽토그램이 갖는 차이점은?
디자인과 표현력의 차이라고 생각한다. 픽토그램의 근원지이며 인포메이션 디자인이 발전한 독일이나 일본에 비해서 많이 부족하다. 독일 표본의 원형과 인간의 성격 표현에 중점을 두어 픽토그램을 연구 하고 싶다

6. 가장 인상 깊었던 픽토그램은?
북한의 표지판을 본적이 있다. 픽토그램의 개념에 의한 표현은 아니였지만 그 곳의 생활, 패턴, 사상이 들어간 픽토그램이라고 느꼈다.

8. sovoro 가 가지고 있는 픽토그램의 특징은 무엇이라 생각하는가?
sovoro의 매력은.. 이야기가 있는 픽토그램이라고 생각한다. 감정을 표현할수 있는 이미지로 픽토그램을 사용하며 거기에 나의 라이프 스타일을 반영시키고 있다 어쩌면 '픽토그램 화한 일러스트'란 말이 더 어울릴지도 모르겠다. 나는 sovoro와 픽토그램, 그리고 사용자와의 피드백을 기본으로 한다. 단순히 인포메이션의 차원을 넘어선 2차적 의미로 감정의 표현과 더불어 인간적 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 인터렉티브적 요소를 가지고 있다. 간단히 말해서, '픽토그램의 형식을 가진 감정적 묘사의 비쥬얼'이다.

7. 픽토그램을 하고 싶어 하는 사람들에게 해주고 싶은 말은?
'기본을 생각하자'라는 말을 해주고 싶다 사람이 기본이며 인본주의를 토대로 모든 기호와 행동과 인터렉션이 맞물리고 있다. 근본적인 것을 잊지 않는 비주얼을 시도 하기 바란다.

9. 니모닉이란 프로젝트의 배경과 의미는 무엇인가
'니모닉'이란 기억을 쉽게 할 수 있도록 도와준다. 라는 전산용어이다. 001110010000100001101000000000000 (나에게 다시 말하게 하지 마라; don't quote me on that!), 이것은 완전하고 아주 긴 것이다. 그래서 사람들은 니모닉 "add"를 사용한다. 사람들은 어셈블러를 통해 "add"를 기계어로 변환한다. 그것은 아주 간단한 것이다.

니모닉은 4명의 친구들이 모여서 서로가 가진 생각과 이미지를 평면적으로 표현하고 공유하는 프로젝트이다 그것은 명확하게 선택된 상징이나 상징의 조합을 사용하는 것에 중점을 두고 있으며 프로젝트의 하나로 '니모닉'이란 캐릭터가 탄생하였다. 니모닉 프로젝트의 컨셉은 일러스트, 타이포, 실사의 믹싱을 통한 비주얼 그래픽으로 단순함 속에 의미와 이유를 찾으려고 노력한다.

11. 니모닉을 통해 사람들에게 말하고 싶은것은 무엇인가?
누구나 즐겁게 , 누구나 좋아하는 !!
일반적인 시각을 달리하면 누구나 즐거움을 느낄수 있음을 전하고 싶다.

12. 앞으로 어떤 방향으로 진출 시킬 계획인가
우리는 니모닉을 통하여 넷아트 형식의 비주얼 프로젝트를 진행하려고 한다. 또한 니모닉에서 만드는 캐릭터와 비쥬얼그래픽 또는 픽토그램을 이용한 티셔츠와 문구류 생활용품 등의 프로덕트 디자인도 기획하고 있다. 프로덕트 디자인은 니모닉에 대한 사람들의 긍정적 관심을 유도하는 방법의 일원이기도 하다.

긍정적인 관점과 즐거움, 휴머니즘이란 니모닉의 마인드를 표현할수 있는 프로젝트를 구상중이다.

13. sovoro.net 의 오픈후 반응은 어떠한가?
신선하다는 반응이 많았다. 많은 사람들이 관심 가져주고 좋아해 주어서 나도 역시 기쁘다.

14. 사람들이 sovoro를 좋아하는 이유는 무엇이라고 생각하는가?
공감의 부분이 있어서가 아닐까 생각한다. 사람들이 친해지기 위해서 대개 자신과의 공통점을 찾게 되면 친근함을 느끼게 된다. 그런 의미에서 나의 라이프 스타일(픽토그램을 이용한 일기)과 그것을 표현 하는 방법에 친근함을 많이 느끼는것 같다.

15. sovoro 만의 특징은 무엇인가?
검정, 흰색, 노랑, 녹색의 제한된 색상으로 보여주는 구성과 색감. 그리고 나의 이야기를 담은 픽토그램.

16. sovoro에서 자신이 보여주고 싶은것은 무엇인가?
어떤 고정된 관점에서 벗어나고 싶었다. 기존의 한정적 픽토그램에서 좀더 응용범위를 넓히려고 시도하고 있다. sovoro적인 픽토그램을 만들기 위해 노력하고 있는데 중요한것은 재미요소와 휴머니즘이다. 상호 작용이 있는 시각언어를 표방하고 있다. (인터렉티브 그래피컬 랭귀지) 인본주의를 가진 친근함과 대중적 요소의 픽토그램, 고유의 성격을 부여한 캐릭터와 이것들을 이용한 이야기가 sovoro에서 표현하고 싶은 것들이며 앞으로도 노력해야 할 것들이다.
